Which organization certifies radiologists?

AAPM

RSNA

ABR

Radiologist certification is handled by a medical specialty board that validates a physician’s training and knowledge in radiology. That board is the American Board of Radiology. It is the recognized certifying body for radiology and its subspecialties, administering the exams needed for initial certification after residency and overseeing ongoing certification to ensure maintenance of expertise.

Other organizations play different roles: the AAPM focuses on medical physics and imaging science, RSNA is a large professional society for radiology professionals, and the ASRT supports radiologic technologists and their credentialing, not physician board certification. So the American Board of Radiology is the one that certifies radiologists.
